A riveder le stelle

"A riveder le stelle" is the illustration I created for Lapis26, the illustrators' exhibition of Lapis Festival – a project of illustration and public art in Sagron Mis, a small village in the Trentino Dolomites. I was one of the twenty illustrators selected for the 2026 edition, dedicated to the theme "Per aspera ad astra".

In a time when screens absorb our gaze, the illustration imagines a return to the wonder of creation. A girl looks up at the sky, while her phone, abandoned among the edelweiss – "stelle alpine", alpine stars, in Italian – reflects the universe it was trying to contain. Around her, insects, flowers, mountains and constellations share the same landscape. The title echoes the last line of Dante's Inferno, and "Per aspera ad astra" becomes an invitation to rediscover an authentic presence in the world, in our relationships and in nature.
